Complete modernization of a concrete block production line

The challenge

Modernize an existing production line while retaining the mechanical equipment already in place. Major upgrades had to be completed during the scheduled holiday shutdown, within a very tight timeframe, to minimize production disruptions.

Our solution

Lory Automation managed the complete modernization of the production line, from mechanical engineering through automation system commissioning.

• Mechanical engineering: 3D modeling and production line layout optimization, integration of a FANUC palletizing robot equipped with a custom-designed gripping system.

• Industrial infrastructure: design of a steel structure supporting a 40-foot climate-controlled technical container above the production line to house the automation control panels.

• Automation and control: electrical design, control panel manufacturing and installation, PLC programming, and development of custom Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).

• Machine safety: review of risk assessments and adaptation of safety systems to meet applicable requirements.

• System integration: industrial wiring upgrades and synchronization of machines, conveyors, and robotic equipment.
